Rachel has been here since the beginning, she’s the glue that holds us together! To share a little more about the people behind the photos, we have some “getting to know you” questions - get to know Rachel below!
Introduce yourself!
I’m Rachel, LBA Studio Manager. I keep the office organised and running smoothly as well as dealing with financial issues working alongside Jeff, our Finance Director.
Why LBA? What’s your background, how did you end up here?
I’ve worked in various Architecture practices since leaving college where I completed a business & secretarial course (this was the 80’s!) as well working in banking and insurance companies. After taking a career break to have my family I taught in a computer skills centre where most of my pupils were under 5! I then worked for Adam Dudley Architects for 10 years as office manager. This is where I met Lynsay and when she asked me to join her at an early juncture in the business I had no hesitation as I knew with her work ethic and creative ability that she would make a success of it.
What’s your pet peeve?
Rudeness.
Secret talent that no one knows about?
Pub quizzes – specialist subject films and entertainment
What’s something that surprised you about your chosen career?
How much I have enjoyed working in a young growing business, constantly adapting to the changes and challenges that have come with that.
What was your first job?
Working in my dad’s car accessory shop in the summer holidays. He was a very good boss as I only had to work a couple of hours a day!
What are you passionate about?
Travelling and spending time with my family.
What could you give a 30 minute presentation about with no advance prep?
My pet dog, Millie.
Who do you most admire and why?
Greta Thunberg – she behaves with such dignity despite all the abuse she has to endure. She is fantastic at conveying an important message and is inspiring a lot of young people to try to effect change.
What are you currently binging on Netflix?
Below the Surface – a Danish thriller about hostage taking terrorists. I love all types of thrillers. My all time favourite show is 24.
What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done?
Hitch hiking in Europe when I was 19.
