LBA are pleased to announce that our project for four contemporary houses in Woodhall Drive, Edinburgh has received planning permission. The scheme, undertaken on behalf of Glencairn Properties, comprises a row of four 4-5 bedroom, 3-storey houses situated on a visually prominent corner plot in the Juniper Green area of South-East Edinburgh.
Materially the new-build dwellings are a subtle combination of dark bronze matt finished aluminium-framed full-height glazing, and buff-coloured traditional clay brickwork. Frameless glass balustrades allow uninterrupted views of the hills to the south from the first floor living area and roof terrace. Vertical timber fin screens control privacy and views at both the front and back of the properties. The fin motif/material is echoed in the pergola entrance overhang, internal stairs and the boundary fencing/ storage units to the landscaped rear garden and terrace. The houses have excellent environmental credentials with the upper flat roof supporting an array of photovoltaic panels all concealed from view behind the brickwork parapet. The project will commence on site later this year and will be completed in 2017.
